YAY! I was able to make a card for the color inspiration challenge this week. Last week was bad with my family being sick. Of course I am terribly behind on everything else, so this card had to be quick.
I decided to use one of my stamps from Paper Makeup Stamps. They have the best dinosaurs! I paired it with my favorite dinosaur-like embossed background and added a senitment. The dino was colored with Copics.

KWerner Color Inspiration #53

I don't know about you, but cards with primary colors are not my forte. I think I need to spend more time in the toy aisle!
This card came together in my mind once I found the sentiment. It is one of the new images that Silhouette just released. I saw it and instantly knew it would be great paired with a giant heart. I kept my fingers that the sentiment would cut correctly the first time and I was so excited it did!
Now that I look at the card, it is very Wonder Woman- esque. The yellow ribbon is velvet and I love how it gives the card texture. I have been doing very simple and classic designs and colors lately, and while this card is still simple it is a lot more on the retro funk side of the scale. Hope you like it!~

KWerner Color Challenge #52

I settled on using my Papertrey Ink "Life" stamp set. I also knew I wanted to use the So Saffron ribbon from this past Sale-a- bration. The clincher came when I found a 12 x 12 sheet of Sahara Sand in an old Simply Scrapping kit. I thought I only had the ink - talk about limitations! I matted the main image with Baja Breeze, it is a lot more apparent IRL. In the end I was happy with what I created, which is my goal any time I sit down to make a card. Hope you enjoy it too! Off to see what you all have created!

KWerner Challenge #51
These colors were so fun! I took my inspiration from the toy in the bottom left corner of the picture. I have seen this brown circle design on everything from toys to blankets. Retro graphics are so hot lately. I paired my trendy brown circles (I used a 1 1/8" SU punch to punch them) with a small mustard colored rubon and a sentiment rubon. I used a layer of acetate so that the rubons would go on smoothly. The rubon was from a pack that I got recently from Archiver's for $1.99 (See the two other cards I made with them here and here.) Clean, simple, and inexpensive - love that! Thanks for looking!

KWerner Challenge #50
It's KWerner Challenge #50! I have only been playing for 9 challenges, but it is always a fun test of my creativity. Tonight (and the last week actually), I wanted to make a simple card. The colors were very fun, and I tried to make a balanced card. Hope you like it!

KWerner Challenge #49

When I saw the colors friday, I thought to myself "Oh how fun". Then I got home and pulled out the papers on Saturday and I thought "Am I the only one that thinks Pacific Point looks rather...Smurf colored?" (Seriously, it is very Smurf colored.) So then I started thinking about the Smurfs and their little mushroom houses, and that is how this card came about.
All the cutting was done by my Silhouette. I was going to use Kiwi Kiss on the 'srooms themselves, but it didn't look right. Neither did adding ribbon or any other accents. I think it came out very whimsical and fun. Thanks for stopping by!

KWerner Challenge #48
Time for another KWerner Challenge! What fun colors this week! When I saw the colors I knew just the paper I was going to construct a card around. I wound up making two cards, because I didn't know which direction I liked the pattern.
These cards are each 3 x 6, and use American Crafts patterned paper.
I think I am favoring this thank you card as my favorite. The stamp is Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday, and the pearls are Kaiser. Stamps: Thank you (Technique Tuesday), Happy (Autumn leaves I think), and birthday (Papertrey Ink)

KWerner Color Challenge #47
CARD REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION
I decided to use my Silhouette and one of the new images they released this month. This tree is so fun! I was going to use this layout for my Paper Challenge Girls (PCG) card, and I still might. I grounded the image by stiching around the edge of the watercolor paper. I added some crisscross stiches so it wouldn't look so flat. I love how this card came out!
Supplies:
Cardstock: Stampin Up
Patterned Paper: Scenic Route Paper Co
RubOn: American Crafts
Other: Twine (Stampin Up), Buttons (from the stash), Thread

KWerner Color Challenge #46

These colors messed with my brain! The blue and pink together kept telling me to go "baby", but I couldn't do it with the red and black there.
Finally I decided to bust out my Technique Tuesday flower petals and pair it with a stamp from an Ali Edwards Kit that Creating Keepsakes sold eons ago. I colored the petals with copics. I like how that looked versus just using the cardstock. I popped the petals off the page with some pop dots (check your dollar store people - they have a large sheet of them and they work terrific!). I thought about distressing the background, but again, less was more here as I wanted to let the flower take center stage. Hope you like it! The heart is a quickutz die that I punched and then colored with Copics. A big departure from my usual style.
edited: Ok, I couldn't take the floating card. I grounded it on a red and black base....ah much better.

KWerner Challenge #45
Another Kwerner Color inspiration. This was almost a monochromatic feel for me. It was fun pulling out all of my black, white and gray embellishments to see what would work.
I settled on a Basic Grey rub-on and some bling. I was going to add a ribbon, but it just didn't look right.

KWerner Challenge #44
Edited:
Odette asked where the bunny stamp was from. It's from the $1.99 bin at Archiver's and came with a giant egg with flowers and scallops.
Marisa asked about the scalloped. It is a Marvy Punch. The pink one. Is that the mega or giga? I think mega size.
It is pretty funny...when I see the KWerner colors for the first time I get a rush of ideas. Then I get home and I start to create and I wind up changing my mind what seems like a million times. I figured that the majority of people would go elegant with these colors, and I kept wanting the white to be creme for some reason, so I took it another way...
I used this bunny once already, but a brown color scheme was just asking for it to be inked again. Plus it was out on my desk. I searched for some patterned paper, but wound up making my own with Pink Pirouette cardstock and an image from Noteworthy (old SU sale-a-bration) stamped in Pretty in Pink. I had my sewing machine out still, so I added some stiching. Fun note: the ribbon is left over from my wedding programs..from almost 7 years ago. I purchased 2 spools of it and I still have almost a spool left. I am glad that I still love it- it's so versitile! Hope you enjoy!
Supplies
Stamps: Bunny (Scrappy Cat), Sentiment (Papertrey Ink), Background Stamp (Stampin Up)
Cardstock: Stampin Up
Ribbon: "Decorative Ribbon" from Hobby Lobby

KWerner Color Challenge #42

This card had to be completed quickly. Sick baby, sick husband, sick Katie means not a lot of time to play. I did need to just play with stamps a bit tonight though. I find it relaxes me before I go to sleep. All I kept thinking when I saw these colors was "fall". So I went with that. I could see doing a bunch of cards like this just to have in stock for those "need a card" moments. The leaf on this card is a retired SU set (Autumn) that I love! I love fall in general. I had tried to do this whole layering of leaves thing and it just got too complicated, so I returned to basics.

KWerner #41

Another Kwerner Challenge! This one I almost didn't get to finish...I have been sick, and there were lots of jobs around the house that needed to be completed. I am happy with how this card came together, not quite as Valentine's as I thought it would be. I think I was over the holiday.
I always start by pulling out a sheet of each color paper, and then go where the creativity takes me....
Supplies
Cardstock: Stampin Up
Ink: Stampin Up
Stamps: Autumn Leaves, Heidi Swapp
Ribbon: JoAnn's
Bling: Crystal Stickers

KWerner Color Challenge #40
Another KWerner Challenge! I stayed up late to post this one. I didn't really know how I was going to put these colors together, so I just started to pull out papers and stamps and play until I found something I liked. The colors really played to layering, and I had neglected the Materpieces of Paisley set from Technique Tuesday for too long. Once I decided on what order the colors should layer in, the rest was easy. Adding the beads was inspired by a card made by my friend Sandy. Hope you enjoy!
Supplies
Stamps: Paisley (Technique Tuesday), Sentiment and Rectangle (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: More Mustard, Taken with Teal, Whisper White (Stampin' Up)
Ink: So Saffron, Taken with Teal, Old Olive (Stampin' Up)
Ribbon: Unknown
Beads: Blue Moon

KWerner Color Challenge #39

Not too bad if I do say so myself. Once I stopped thinking about trying to use all the colors in large amounts and focused on making a fun card everything came together. The key was the ant stamp. Once I figured out I wanted to use the ant, the grass was the next logical thing to make. A gingham ribbon created a "picnic" sort of vibe, and so saffron anchored the design. Hope everyone likes it!
