A Melon Thanks

A very quick post, I am working on my card exchange cards tonight (Due the second Tuesday of the Month!) This was a fun card to put together. I love the pun. The whole set is full of them (Little Fruit from Stampendous). A very quick and simple card.

Happy Birthday Cupcake

Don't you love Michael's dollar stamps? I know I do. My friend Tiffany was at Michaels last week and called me to tell me they had very cute cupcake stamps and did I want some. Did I? Of course! I made this card using one of the 3 stamps she bought for me. I colored each cupcake and then cut out the image. I used dimensionals to pop them off the page. A frame of pink cardstock and simple ribbon treatment was all this card needed. Oh, and don't you love the crystal effects on the cherry?

SFYTT - Playtime

I was happy I could get to this week's SFYTT. I have been working on Easter gifts for teachers all day (check back to see those later in the week). But I took some time tonight to play along with one of my favorite sketch challenges. I don't tend to do a lot of layering, so the sketches help me to flex my creative muscles.

When Randee used an image from the Simple Thoughts - Boy set from Cloud9Design I had a major case of stamp envy. So when I was in JoAnn's and spied it (40% off of course) it just happened to land in my cart. The sentiments in this set are really wonderful, especially if you have little boys in your life! This sentiment spoke to me with all of the playing I do in my craft room, it always does make me feel better.

KWerner Challenge #48

Time for another KWerner Challenge! What fun colors this week! When I saw the colors I knew just the paper I was going to construct a card around. I wound up making two cards, because I didn't know which direction I liked the pattern.

These cards are each 3 x 6, and use American Crafts patterned paper.

I think I am favoring this thank you card as my favorite. The stamp is Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday, and the pearls are Kaiser.

For this card, I had to use my Copic marker to color the ribbon. I have never done that before. The twill was white before I colored it. The stamps are from Autumn Leaves and PTI.

For Peep's Sake

I loved this peep stamp from Amuse, and I had to have it when I saw it released. I am working on finishing my Easter Cards, and I put this card together very quickly. I stamped the peep multiple times in So Saffron ink, used a glue pen to trace the outline, and then poured on glitter. The ribbon is also from Amuse, as is the sentiment. The inside of the card has one peep and "Happy Easter". I put a clear overlay over the top of the card so that the glitter did not go everywhere.

Baby Gift and Inspired by....

I wanted to make something special for my friend Karlie and her new baby Nate. When I saw the plastic container my tomatoes came in I thought that it would be perfect for the sock cupcakes that Lauren Meader demonstrated awhile back. In each holder is a pair of socks surrounded by a white sock "paper". Then I fancied up the packaging. I used some velvet stickers from Making Memories, some die cuts from the Jack line from Making Memories, and ribbon from Papertrey Ink. I love how it came out!



The second thing I have to share is the "Inspired by" challenge that Marisa has. I got a pair of sandals when I went to the garage sale this past weekend (the shoes were from a store closing out last summer's shoes, and yes it was the same sale I got the buttons at). I loved the shoes, they are totally my color.

Here is my card. The most fun was finding papers in my stash that were close to the colors on the shoe. Bazzil paper for the shoe base, Brown is from Stampin Up, White from Wausau paper, Blue from Paper studio. Stamp is Hero Arts.

And here is a glimpse at those buttons that I got! So fun! They are now sorted into muffin tins by color, I am working on my button storage. Have a great day!

If you have never looked at the clear stamps from My Favorite Things I would really recommend it. Call it enabling, but look how cute this main image is from the Easter Greetings set.

Easter Card 1

I made this cute Easter card the other night. It was really easy, all the shapes were cut using my silhouette! I cut a bunch of the eggs and grass so that I could make a bunch. I modified the design to make cards for my son's daycare teachers as well.

SFYTT- Rain or Shine

I had to channel Randee for this one; she always makes such awesome cards with the My Favorite Things images. I finally got a few MFT stamp sets and when I saw the SFYTT tonight I knew that this was the image I was going to use.

I had such a fun day today. I went to this HUGE 100 family garage sale. It was in a large warehouse, and my favorite purchase was a giant jar of vintage buttons. The woman told me some were from the 60s. I got the jar for $5 and then I spied another one that I got for $3. Anyway, when I got back to my mom's house and showed her my treasures she knew I was dying to start sorting them and so she went and got some old muffin tins. Then she got some baby jar lids for my son to sort because he wanted to play with "buttons" too. Just shows you that mothers never stop mothering :)

So that was a long story to indicate that the button on this card is a vintage mother or pearl. The bling I started with just didn't look right. I am so please with my first MFT card!

KWerner Color Challenge #47

I look forward to the KWerner color challenge every week and I was so excited to see the colors this week. These are my colors. They are very harvesty and fall; but I resisted the urge to get out my Halloween stamps (It was really hard; I kept wanting to stamp pumpkins).

CARD REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION

I decided to use my Silhouette and one of the new images they released this month. This tree is so fun! I was going to use this layout for my Paper Challenge Girls (PCG) card, and I still might. I grounded the image by stiching around the edge of the watercolor paper. I added some crisscross stiches so it wouldn't look so flat. I love how this card came out!

Fabric Card

This past weekend when I was at Archiver's I found some Amy Butler accents in the clearance section. I was thinking about what I could do with them, and so I went into my fabric bins for some inspiration. I happened to have some polka dot Amy Butler fabric that coordinated perfectly! I used my Xyron to put adhesive on the back of the fabric and then trimmed around the cardstock.


I had a lot of fun making this card. I think it was because I was using fabric; something I have never done before.

Another Flower

I am really really loving the Blossom and Blooms set from Whipper Snapper. Maybe it's because the images are so much fun to color with Copics!

I am also way addicted to using Kraft Cardstock. There is just something about the contrast of the image on the kraft color. And I am really loving the ribbon from Papertrey Ink. It is by far the best ribbon that I have ever used. This is another very simple card. I really into making clean and simple cards right now.

Gift Card Holder

I have a friend who owns a coffee shop, and he has agreed to let me sell my cards there (Russo Espress0 in Fairview Park, Ohio - check it out if you are local). I am very excited for this opportunity and tonight decided to make a gift card holder for the gift cards the shop sells. I used the Warm Happiness set from Papertrey Ink, as well as some of the Everyday Blessings paper that Tiffany told me I needed to buy because it was totally me (she was right). I used Basic Grey's Notch and Die tool to put the half circles to hold the gift card. I am very happy with how it came out. I see more gift card holders in my future. *Grin*

SFYTT Be Happy!

It seemed like spring this weekend (finally). I know it was cold here at night, but I feel we have turned a corner!

I went shopping on Saturday night at Archiver's, and this panel was part of a 12 x 12 sheet of paper that found it's way into my basket (the buttons came along too). It was so fun; look for more cards made from it! I made this card for the SFYTT challenge. I really look forward to these challenges. I always check the sketch in the morning and think about it all day Saturday. I didn't get a change to play with it until tonight though.

Edited: The sentiment is on the paper. The 12 x 12 sheet is divided into 12 journaling blocks. It is pretty terrific. Each block either has a sentiment or some sort of lines for journaling.

It started innocently enough...with the Caardvarks challenge for this week which was a sketch. Then I decided I liked the paper and wanted to make another card. And then I made another and another. Eleven cards later I was out of patterned paper. It is so much fun to take a piece of 12 x 12 paper and make cards until there is no more paper. (My best was 25 cards from one sheet; see this post and this post. It was one of my paper challenge's.) My goal is to keep moving, and not get stuck on thinking if I like a card or not. Simple is also key.

Baby Card for Friends

Hi Everyone! I want to give a special shout out to my new blog followers Tiffany and Gogizmo; thanks for following me ladies!

I was disappointed with how my KWerner card came out this week, so I had to go into my stamp room and make a card I did like!
Some friends (Karlie and Angelo) just had a baby boy, so I made a card to go with the package I am sending to them. I am so much happier with this card!


The stamp is from Imaginisce ($1.99 bin at Archiver's). I stamped it in Ranger distress ink and colored it with my Copics. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. Can you tell that the white background actually has an embossed alphabet? So cute for a baby card.

KWerner Color Challenge #46

These colors messed with my brain! The blue and pink together kept telling me to go "baby", but I couldn't do it with the red and black there.


Finally I decided to bust out my Technique Tuesday flower petals and pair it with a stamp from an Ali Edwards Kit that Creating Keepsakes sold eons ago. I colored the petals with copics. I like how that looked versus just using the cardstock. I popped the petals off the page with some pop dots (check your dollar store people - they have a large sheet of them and they work terrific!). I thought about distressing the background, but again, less was more here as I wanted to let the flower take center stage. Hope you like it! The heart is a quickutz die that I punched and then colored with Copics. A big departure from my usual style.

edited: Ok, I couldn't take the floating card. I grounded it on a red and black base....ah much better.

First, is this not a better picture then yesterday's? Man, I was not loving the yellow cast from yesterday. Here is the trick, change your color setting on your camera to tungsten and make you ISO at least 800. That is what I did here. This card came about because I was playing with my new Blooms and Butterflies set by Whipper Snapper (designed by Anna Wight). I wanted this set since it came out and I just had to get it when i was at Creative Pals in Brookfield, WI this weekend. I colored it with Copics, but stopped short of getting out my pencils to shade. That will be the weekend. This card is an interesting size 5.5 x 3, and is one of those designs that you could make a set of cards with different images but the same layout...in fact I may try just that this weekend. Happy St Patty's Day!

This was a quick and easy project. I wanted to make gifts for Jack's teachers at the daycare, and my silhouette sure came in handy again! I simply cut out the shamrock, and then used the computer to write the sentiment! The mini shamrock stamp is from Papertrey Inks Limitless labels set. The bag has Andes mints - they go with the holiday and they are made in a peanut free facility!

I can't wait to give them out tomorrow!
